Hello! I’m a senior at USD studying Architecture. This is my third semester as a member of the STA Program and I’m excited to begin working with the Teaching and Learning department faculty to develop an online presence through professional websites and social media. I think the STA program is a great opportunity to develop new skills and learn new technology. Last spring, I worked with professor Daniel Lopez-Perez of the Architecture Department on V-Ray, a professional rendering tool. I developed a set of tutorials and gave lectures to the ARCH 102 space frame studio on how to use V-Ray as a photorealistic communication medium for their RHINO 4.0 CAD models. I truly enjoyed the process of trial and error while working on this project last semester. By the end of the semester, I developed an advanced understanding of this program and many students used V-Ray renderings in their final presentations for the semester.
My Project Description:
This semester I am working to help improve the online presence of the Teaching and Learning department faculty. Specifically, I am working with department chair, Dr. Heather Lattimer to develop a website template that will create a cohesive look and identity for the twelve professors within the department. The faculty profile website that I am designing will help professors share research, provide on-line course support, and connect with current students, future students, and alumni. Once the template is built, I will create twelve separate URLs for each professor so that each website may be personalized according to the needs and goals of that professor. Although the creation of these twelve websites is the major goal of the project, I will also assist faculty members in learning how to use their website effectively and connect with students through social media.
